8am on a foggy saturday, starting to clear a windblown beech tree which had been left by someone else as it was too large for them clear...

first cut

we later weighed that "log" on the weighbridge, 2.5 tonnes (thats just the log!)

once sliced, lowered the log splitter to its ground setting, and just about managed to lever the slice onto the footplate

first round was all split up and in the loadbed, and this was the second round being split

That was the Logrover full (later weighed at 680kg of logs) from just two rounds of that trunk. Still a few rounds left to go for another day.

to remove these six dead elm trees overhanging some driveways

all down and tidied up in a morning (with no damage). Will have to return to uplift logs and do some splitting.

That mass of growth is an an overgrown beech hedge which we've been asked to "prune"

the hedge runs behind these sheds and is about 20ft high rather than 3ft.

some hours later, and sunlight can now enter. half the trees pruned to 3ft high, all the twiggy stuff moved away, and the useful timber cut and stacked

after the clearup was able to drive the log rover in and split a load

Rigging up the first leaner - capstan winch came in very handy as was used on nearly every tree

All down, and just some clearing up with a bit of logging and splitting to end the day
