split up the big bits the next day and brought some back - weighed in at 1 tonne load on the weighbridge, so 3,250kg up all - slightly over the GVW...

another days splitting

those birch on top of the hill need removing

so time to drop a few

Another weekend, and a couple of leaning dead elms to remove

Tricky one this saturday morning - need to remove these four ash trees from the top of the steep bank, without damaging the house....

got the log rover into the woods behind the trees

lined up with the four ash trees

using the capstan

to encourage them in the right direction

all down (one a bit snagged up, but ok)

exiting the woods

at the bottom again, and dragging down the snagged one - bit of ploughing in the loose gravel.

job done - four trees down safely, a full load of logs cut and split in the logrover and some lengths left for later

time to leave

what a mess! some windblown, but most just left like this by Electricity Board after clearing access under a power line

nice early start

you can just make out the blue rope running from unimog to pulley to trunk to extract them back to the track

crane used to pull them up as well

first load of the day on the unimog with just a few scraps thrown in the back of the logrover

unloading the second load of the day - which combined was 5 tonnes of logs - pretty good for a mornings work

then split up a logrover load before finishing

after about 4 saturday mornings work, the number of felled trees has decreased, and the ground vegetation increased...

bare patch on the right where we had been dragging the logs out - we've now moved to the area on the left of the shot, dragged this lot across ready for uplifting

another load being added to the stockpile

quite a pile of elm (between the two vehicles) which has been collected in the last 4 weekends
