getting better
steady progress
all now decarbed
A few of the removed items
cleaning up the exhaust manifold face
job done - all steel faces lightly oiled
head bolts before and after - some sealant used last time?
all ready to go - head bolts and exhaust manifold bolts
The new valves have arrived (and some core plugs behind)
this core plug looked a bit dodgy so decided to replace
able to chisel the edge in and it is standing proud of the block
not tooo bad inside
new one seated in with a socket
took the rear one out for a look and a flush as well
some silt sludge came out with direct flushing
replaced the radiator hoses as the system was drained down anyway
contents of a "head set" - excluding the can of Export...
that tiny illuminated line in the valve guide is a oil seal to be removed
gently hammered a small screwdriver into the seal
and used these tools to extract them. got quite quick at it by the time of the sixth seal...
lapping in the new exhaust valves into the seats in the block
all done
inlet stem seals in and valves and springs all reassembled
cleaning up some of the extra bits (like this thermostat housing)
decided to do the other core plug and found the gasket on the block oil breather was damaged
done
exhaust valves going back in
careful with the collets
